Oleana and Sofra are independently run sister businesses owned by Chef Ana Sortun, with Pastry Chef Maura Kilpatrick as partner at Sofra. Together, they share a commitment to thoughtful hospitality, vibrant flavors, and high-quality ingredients.

Oleana, a Cambridge institution for over 25 years, is known for its bold, spice-driven Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, seasonal menus, and warm, intimate dining experience.

Sofra Bakery & Café brings a more casual, everyday expression of these flavors, offering baked goods, prepared foods, and pantry items inspired by Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean. Since opening in Cambridge in 2008, Sofra has grown to include a second location in Allston, along with an expanded program of classes, catering, and events.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Marketing Associate is responsible for marketing and public communications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and maintain a marketing schedule.
• Manage social media accounts.
• Create company public communication such as newsletters and eblasts. 
• Assist in keeping website information current.
• Ensure content aligns closely with the brand.
• Assist in developing marketing strategies. 
• Lead public communication for special events, holidays, and cooking classes.

• Assist with working with the graphic designer to coordinate needs for printed marketing materials, including flyers, pamphlets, posters, merchandise, packaging, and more as needed. 

• Perform additional tasks and take lead on special projects as needed.
• Provide leadership, acts as a role model of appropriate behavior in the workplace, enforces company policy and procedures, and upholds quality standards. Maintain company culture to champion vision, values, and uphold staff morale.

The successful Marketing Associate will work to support established goals and values and uphold existing culture and the highest quality standards of customer service and hospitality.

Requires excellent communication skills with both the public and the staff at all times. Utilizing best practices for building team and relationships, the Marketing Associate will lead by example and demonstrate impeccable character and integrity. The Marketing Associate will successfully manage community relations.

This is a non-exempt, part-time position. The Marketing Associate is expected to accomplish the responsibilities outlined in this job description in 10-15 hours/week.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will have - 

• Preferably at least 1 year of experience in marketing and social media with restaurants or food-related organizations 
• A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and storytelling
• Experience with brand management or brand alignment 
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Comfort being on-site and hands-on
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Creativity and willingness to pitch ideas
• Ability to work with a variety of managers in front and back of house
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• A positive, respectful attitude
• Have excellent attendance and punctuality

COMPENSATION

• $25/hour, 10-15 hours/week
