Job Description

About The Role

Northwest Partners is looking for a security consultant to support our client in implementing robust security controls and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role will involve performing gap analyses, developing key documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall security posture. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud security, compliance frameworks, and a proven track record of driving successful security initiatives. If you're ready to take on a key role in shaping the security strategy for a high-impact project, this is the opportunity for you.

What You Will Do:
  • Take charge of managing and responding to critical security incidents, coordinating efforts across technical teams to ensure a fast and effective resolution.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to understand the root causes of security incidents, then implement improvements to prevent similar issues in the future.
  • Own the setup and optimization of Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), ensuring all logs are integrated, standardized, and provide complete visibility across cloud and on-prem systems.
  • Develop and continuously improve detection rules and use cases in Sentinel, aligned to the latest threats and industry standards (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Proactively hunt for hidden threats using KQL (Kusto Query Language) and threat intelligence to identify advanced risks before they escalate.
  • Design and implement automated playbooks and workflows in Sentinel to speed up incident response and improve consistency.
  • Work with teams from cloud, DevOps, identity, and infrastructure to build and enhance security detection across systems.
  • Guide and mentor junior and mid-level analysts, setting high standards for investigations and security operations.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, SOPs, and documentation to ensure smooth and efficient security operations.

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years in incident response, leading high-severity incidents and coordinating teams for fast resolution.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Sentinel, including log management, security monitoring, and detection rule development.
  • Proficiency with EDR, firewalls, cloud security (Azure, AWS), and SIEM tools to enhance security operations.
  • Skilled in threat hunting using KQL, proactively identifying and mitigating risks before they escalate.
  • Experience in automating security processes with playbooks and workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Proven ability to mentor SOC analysts, driving team growth and setting high performance standards.
  • Strong communication skills, explaining complex security issues to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, staying current with trends and improving both skills and security posture.

Declaimer: All candidates will be asked to briefly show a government-issued ID on video during the first interview. This step protects the integrity of the hiring process given the rise in applicant impersonation and employment fraud.

Benefits Include:
Health Insurance, Vision Insurance, Dental Insurance, Short term Disability, Long-term Disability, Life Insurance, Education Benefits and more.
