job summary:
Our client is contract resource to
support the training and readiness efforts for inpatient nursing staff ahead
of upcoming Epic system changes scheduled to go live on August 10th. This
role will focus on delivering classroom-based instruction and refresher
training on key Epic workflows and efficiencies. The trainer will support
nursing end users in strengthening their proficiency across core clinical
documentation and patient care tools within Epic. This position plays a
critical role in ensuring a smooth go-live transition and supporting post-go-
live stabilization for inpatient nursing workflows.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate classroom-based training sessions for inpatient nursing
staff on Epic workflows and system updates
- Deliver refresher training focused on Epic efficiencies and
standardized nursing documentation practices
- Train users on Epic tools and workflows including navigators,
flowsheets, MAR, Rover, care plans, patient education, and nursing
reports (e.g., Summary Reports)
- Provide instruction on the Mytonomy patient education video
application and its integration into clinical workflows
- Reinforce UC Davis Health policies and procedures as they relate to
Epic clinical workflows and documentation standards
- Document and track questions, issues, and feedback raised during training sessions
- Provide go-live support to inpatient nursing units as needed
- Support or deliver make-up training sessions following go-live based on staff availability and operational needs
- Assist in identifying common user issues during training and escalate themes to support readiness efforts
Required Technical Experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting Epic inpatient workflows in a clinical or training capacity
- Strong knowledge of nursing documentation workflows including flowsheets, MAR, care plans,
and patient education tools
- Experience with Epic inpatient modules and clinical end-user training delivery
- Familiarity with Epic navigators, reporting tools (e.g., nursing summary reports), and Rover mobile
workflows
- Experience facilitating classroom-based training for clinical or nursing audiences
- Ability to translate clinical workflows and policies into clear end-user instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Epic trainer or clinical informatics educator
- Experience supporting Epic go-live or post-go-live stabilization efforts
- Familiarity with UC Davis Health clinical workflows or academic medical center environments
- Epic certification in relevant inpatient or clinical modules
- Training or instructional design certification
- Understanding of inpatient nursing operations and documentation standards
