Under the close supervision of a Senior Environment Scientist (Supervisory) and within the Bay Delta Region's Habitat Conservation (HabCon) Program, the incumbent is responsible for preparing, tracking, reviewing, editing, and conducting compliance on Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Agreements, California Endangered Species Act (CESA) permits, and commenting on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and related environmental documents for Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) projects. The incumbent represents the HabCon Program and provides consultative advice when working with outside entities. The incumbent will apply the best available technical information in writing and presentations to provide significant positive consequences for Valley Water, CDFW, the public, and trust resources. Public contacts made in the course of this work are highly sensitive and involve a wide variety of special interest groups.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Employees are currently required to work in-person at least two (2) days per week. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.
This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
