About the Professional Licensing Agency:

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency is seeking an individual to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the board director, the licensing board/commissions, and to directly supervise the customer service representatives’ projects across a broad scope of career opportunities. Preferred Experience -  Associates’ level degree (or above) or minimum 2 years relevant State experience.

 

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Resolve moderately complex issues related to one or more agency program areas.
  • Provide guidance and delivers program assistance to businesses, agencies and individuals obtaining varying services.
  • Evaluate the customers’ needs and determines the feasibility of requests and what restrictions may exist.
  • Contact businesses, individuals, and other local, state, or federal agencies to confirm or collect information and/or to respond to requests for information.
  • Interpret and applies agency or state policies, regulations, and procedures related to program to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to program requirements.
  • Issue the proper documentation, registrations, permits, licenses, or other operating authorizations.
  • Investigate, research, analyze, and presents policies, processes, legislation, regulations, and rulings related to the program for resolution of more complex issues.
  • Provide guidance, training, and serves as a program resource to staff, other agency personnel, public and private business partners, and the general public.
  • May be required to prepare and provide testimony as a witness during administrative hearings related to an agency program​.
  • May analyze licensing information submitted by the public to determine whether a license may be granted, denied, or if additional information is neeed.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Specialized knowledge of program area, including pertinent rules, regulations, terminology, and related computer applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience in analyzing customer inquiries or issues, applying criteria/regulations, and determining solutions or fees.
  • Ability to understand basic to intermediate accounting principles, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various governmental agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to research, investigate and analyze specific topics related to the program.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Windows software products.

A degree is not required. However, at least 1+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
