Assistant Project Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of commercial construction projects. The role assists Project Managers in coordinating onsite activities, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and managing project documentation using Procore. The Assistant Project Manager will help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, on budget, and to the clients quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in planning, organizing, and executing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Maintain and update project schedules, budget tracking, and forecasts; identify and escalate risks and potential delays.
• Manage project documentation and workflows in Procore, including RFIs, submittals, daily reports, change orders, and correspondence.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of work and materials.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality control, and safety compliance; document observations and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist with contract administration, review scopes of work, and prepare/track change order documentation.
• Prepare project reports and communicate status updates to clients, stakeholders, and senior project staff.
• Support procurement and bid activities, including gathering pricing, reviewing proposals, and assisting with vendor selection.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in construction with demonstrated experience as an Assistant Project Manager or similar role on commercial projects.
• Proven proficiency with Procore and strong competency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction scheduling and budgeting tools.
• Solid understanding of commercial construction processes, drawings, specifications, and construction methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports, correspondence, and presentations for clients and project teams.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform site visits and work collaboratively with field crews; valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements; OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred.
• Nice to have: prior experience as a Project Manager and experience working on Public Works projects; certifications such as PMP, CCM, or a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field are a plus.
