Job Summary

The Assistant Herdsman is responsible for supporting the day-to-day farm operations under the direct supervision of the Herdsman.

Pay is DOE (Depends on Experience) and will be discussed at interview.

Shifts are Mondays and Thursdays 5:30am - 4:00pm. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Weekends on a rotating schedule. Hours can be flexible.

This role focuses on maintaining herd health through proper care, feeding, and monitoring, as well as assisting with bull collection and ensuring that facilities are kept in excellent working condition. The Assistant Herdsman plays a key role in promoting animal well-being, safety, and operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities Assess each animal daily and promptly report any health or behavioral concerns to the Herdsman. Feed bulls according to scheduled times and ensure proper nutritional management. Check water sources daily to confirm functionality and adequate supply. Maintain accurate and up-to-date stall signage with feeding and animal information. Assist with bull collection procedures as directed. Clean and bed stalls regularly; maintain collection areas in a sanitary condition. Follow all safety protocols when working with and around bulls and equipment. Monitor barns and facilities, completing minor repairs as needed and reporting larger issues to the Herdsman. Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Herdsman, Operations Manager, or General Manager.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience in feeding and caring for cattle.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Proven ability to follow directions and carry out assigned tasks efficiently.
